Generation Change at PVA TePla Danmark
(Wettenberg, June 1, 2010) - The long-serving head of floatzone (FZ) activities at PVA TePla AG, Jens Borregaard, is to retire. His successor is Dr. Martin Strassner. Dr. Strassner has already been working on FZ activities in Denmark for a year and a half. Floatzone systems are used in the manufacture of high-purity silicon crystals for high-performance applications, e.g. in the photovoltaics industry and for hybrid technology in automotive engineering, to name but two key areas of application. Development, construction and sales of these crystal-growing systems are based in Frederikssund, Denmark.
The floatzone activities in Denmark go back to 1960, and were originally established by the Danish chemical manufacturer Haldor Topsoe. Jens Borregaard joined this division in 1973 and headed it from 1977. In 2004, PVA TePla AG, Wettenberg, acquired this technologically interesting division, which has since traded as PVA TePla Danmark. Together with his team, Jens Borregaard gradually turned the business into the world's most important provider of FZ systems. Over the years, he has delivered not only technological leadership, but also commercial success. The board of directors thanks Jens Borregaard for his achievments and his life´s work.
His successor, physicist Dr. Martin Strassner, joined PVA TePla AG in 2008 and has been working alongside Jens Borregaard in Denmark since 2009. In his previous positions, Dr. Martin Strassner worked for leading technology companies and research institutes, and therefore meets all the requirements to ensure a smooth transition.
