RF-Plasma ist die am häufigsten angewandte und vielfältig einsetzbare Plasmatechnologie und wird in einem breiten Spektrum für industrielle und medizinische Applikationen eingesetzt.

Materialoberflächen können durch Behandlung im RF-Niederdruckplasma gereinigt, beschichtet oder auch chemisch modifiziert werden. Die Modifizierung der Oberflächen geschieht durch die im Gas-Plasma vorhandenen aktiven Teilchen, welche sowohl chemisch als auch mit physikalischer Energie auf die Oberfläche einwirken.

Bei geeigneter Wahl der Prozessbedingungen können durch die Kombination des chemisch/physikalischen Effektes auch chemisch inerte Oberflächen abgetragen oder Polymere gezielt vernetzt werden.
